Are there any specific things I should check when looking to purchase an h16?
Soft spots in the hulls are the number one thing to look out for when buying a used boat- particularly on the decks in front of the forward pylons. 99% of the time if the boat has soft spots you're better off just walking away.
Otherwise, inspect the general condition of all the major parts including trailer. Make sure everything is there and bring a Hobie catalogue with you (the printed version with price list) so that you have a realistic idea of what things are going to cost to fix/replace/upgrade.
