I need a Hobie Tiger Forstay.
Does anyone have one or know where to get one?
Before anyone says check your local hobie dealer. I ordered one in March and after it sat on back order till July it was reordered.

My current Forstay (old style) has a split on one of the strands and I want the newer style or I'd just have a rigging shop copy my current one.

I replaced all my rigging from Murrays. They make their own to either factory or your specifications. Took only a few days to receive.

Since they make their own rigging and do custom rigging, they should be able to make what you need. Have you talked to them directly?
This is taken directly from their web site.

"Murrays has over 30 years of experience producing rigging especially for catamarans. All our rigging is made to factory specifications. Choose from our wide selection of rigging already in stock or contact us to make custom rigging to your specifications."

Inbound freight from Hobie Europe is now in LA I am told. Likely includes the needed Forestay.

Thanks Matt.

Hopefully the forstay and eye bolt and nut are there.

Looks like the stuff is still on the water, but due mid September... the contact we had was just a heads up by the Broker.

Ask Frank Ternillo if you may borrow his forestay. After his and Patty's tribulations at the Sausalito regatta Patty said she wants to go back to 20s. I don't know if they have repaired or replaced the Tiger main and spinnaker they lost in that race.

They have the old style. I need the newer longer forstay, for non furling set-up. Looks like I won't have one till sometime after the F-18 N/A's.

If you can find me one I'll buy the next round of drinks for you. But I need one before SEPT 2.

Is there something particularly special about this forestay cable other than the fact that it has Hobie stamped on it?

If you know the wire diameter, length, and type of end fittings you need, there are plenty of places that can build a cable assembly for you. Murrays, APS, heck even McMaster Carr can build custom wire rope assemblies. I wouldn't let Hobie (Europe's) slow service keep me off the water for something this simple.

If I had the dimensions I would have one built. I have the second generation forstay, and need the third gen forstay. Different lengths, added pigtail, ect.

Had the same situation with FX forestay. Jeremy at Surf City did some checking and said it is a Euro-style end fitting, not in stock. Also, I couldn't find the length of the wire because Hobie Europe doesn't post them like Hobie US does. And Hobie US doesn't have FX or Tiger or, I assume now, the Wildcat wire lengths on their lists.

Jeremy actually called a buddy in Holland or Norway or somewhere (how's that for a great dealer!) and got the length and made forestay and bridles that require D shackles to put together. All works. My FX came with only the furling jib forestay.

About the same time, I emailed the Hobie dealer in England in Dorset and they poked around but couldn't find forestay. Don't think they took it real seriously.

Having the parts info in hand is great. Hobie US has no equal when it comes to parts information available to customers, IMO. Hobie Europe could do better. I am pretty sure there are some US owners of Europe boats that have contact with European dealers. Just be nice to know who the dealers are and how they work.

Jeremy at Surf City and Jacques at Hobie got together and have a solution worked out for me.

Thanks Guys
