I've never hit the water doing 40mph, but I have in the mid 30's slalom skiing. I'll pass on the dangling idea. |

That helmsman must hang onto the wheel for dear life in rough seas. One step back and adios amigo. Looks to be at least a two story fall. |

Its pretty amazing that they have the guts to fly a hull in a boat that size. If it capsized, they'd be nothing short of completely screwed! |

Two stories? Try five Capsizing requires a brage with oversized crane to right it. Usually in pieces. |

The photo in the beginning of this post that is flying two hulls is the 90' BMW Oracle trimaran The $16 million dollar, 103' French Groupama trimaran turtled and the following video shows a crane uprighting it after it was towed to port. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NxXkWE366Yk&feature=related The next video shows the 105' Sodebo trimaran pull out of a pitchpole at the last second. What is really impressive is that Thomas Coville sailed this monster solo around the world last year in 61 days. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QP-67_sPgGc |
