I have just bought a 16 hobie cat and am having problems stepping the mast. Where the mast meets the hull the parts don't match and are worn irregularly. I think I may have gotten a mast from a previos year? Emile Egas at [email protected] any help?

As I recall, the bottom of the mast slides into the a 'cup' which is on top of the the post at the centre of the front cross bar. There is an offset link mechanism needed to secure the foot of the mast while raising the mast. The holes in the bottom of the mast and on the cup are NOT meant to be lined up....Always keep an eye open for power and utility lines...

Suggest you download the parts diagram, review it, and also check with your local Hobie dealer and perhaps buy the H16 Manual.

Do you have any other Hobie sailors where you will be sailing? You'll find them to be helpful, like the folks on this Forum.
