I've been sailing for 1 year now. Started on rented Waves in downtown Des Moines' Gray's Lake (Limited space, but a great deal at $10/hr for learning or a quick sail if you don't have time to drive and rig) and quickly bought an H18 late last year which I've been enjoying since. Not sure if it's lack of experience or the twisted nature of my old tell tails, but I'm finding it easier to ignore the tell tails and trim the sails just far enough in to keep a luff bubble forming. Does anybody else do it this way? Are there advantages or disadvantages to doing this? -Rowdy |

The only disadvantage to that method is that the battens will keep the "bubble" from forming. It's more of a problem with newer sails that are much stiffer. |

Thanks. I hadn't considered the battens influence on bubble formation. Might have to replace my tells. -Rowdy |
