Sunday 102 in the shade on the mighty 21SE not any wind at all for one hour then a small puff then quickly to 15 MPH. The wind was great the beer was like ice the water temp was 89F the new Harken 9:1 blocks were a big improvement over the 7:1 Everything on the boat worked great
About 40 miles of sailing not going really anywhere just going fast.
This was truly a Hobie day on Lake Norman
Next up is Edisto Beach SC for some ocean sailing

Gary,

I have been avoiding Lake Norman because of all the power boat traffic on the weekends. Is it still as busy at it was? I launched at Ramsey Creek for years but gave it up and switched to Jordan which is Corps of Engineers and much less crowded. Norman is closer to me so if the boat traffic has eased, I would like to go back there.

The boat traffic does not bother me if the wind is blowing even a little
My house is about MM4 and there is some really big water to sail
The main channel does get a little crouded where it narrows down
I am usually around Governors Island or Davidson Creek near the house

I think that motor boat drivers are more aware than they were years ago and since there are so many police sheriff and wildlife patrols on the water it seems much safer

Lake Norman is BIG water and my Hobies and my Catilina and Hydro Sports seem to have a bunch of room
Hint on sailing if the wind is up the motor boats really thin out
