The Charlotte Harbor Regatta board of directors has set the dates for the 2013 Charlotte Harbor Regatta for Jan. 31 through Feb. 4, 2013. Two exciting new developments promise to make the 4th annual Charlotte Harbor Regatta the best ever.

In addition to our traditional roster of fleets -- Sunfish, Precision 15, Laser, 2.4mR, Flying Scot, Hobie 16, Hobie Wave, Weta trimaran, F16 and F18 -- the 2013 CHR will feature for the first time a women's Hobie 16 division. The board is also working with the Laser Masters organization on making the event its 2013 Laser Masters Midwinters, with an expected turnout of more than 50 boats.

Coming off a wildly successful winter regatta season in 2011-2012, when the CHR board and its local club partners staged the 2011 U.S. 2.4mR Class Association Pre-Worlds, the 2012 IFDS World Championships and the 2012 Charlotte Harbor Regatta, the addition of a Hobie women's division and a Laser Masters fleet represent another leap in the ongoing growth of sailboat racing on Charlotte Harbor.

Also new for 2013 will be the first-ever Charlotte Harbor Regatta Beach Party at Port Charlotte Beach Park, the staging area for the multihulls. Live music, barbeque and beverages on the shore of beautiful Charlotte Harbor is sure to be the highlight of the week.
