A fellow sailor here locally just bought a Hobie "Mini One" boat. I can't find anything on it online and assume he's got the name right. It's sort of a one-piece catamaran. I think it's only about 10 feet long. It's a plastic boat, but doesn't appear to be rotomolded polyethelene. Anyone know anything about these boats and what they were made of? He needs to perform a few hull repairs and needs to know what type of plastic he's dealing with. Thanks. |

If not a Hobie Bravo... Likely a Mono Cat? Those were 12 ft. and the only other one piece cat we built. Never called a Hobie "Mini One" to my knowledge. Mono Cats were thremo-formed ABS. Internal Structure: http://www.hobiecat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=37786 viewtopic.php?f=9&t=26409 |

He might be talking about one of the re-branded Holder monohulls that Hobie was making in the late '80s / early '90s. They were called "Hobie One XX" (with the XX being the length - I think they were 12' / 14' - Matt?) wait a second . . . <runs down to basement, returns, slaps old brochure on scanner> One of these? (yeah, I know they say "Holder," but they re-branded them later to "Hobie One") |

Thanks but I saw a photo he had and it does appear to be the Mono Cat. |
