My sister sent me this link:

$45 seems more than a bit expensive for it, though, since you can buy a standalone handheld one for less than that. BUT... as long as you have your phone with you, this one should always work.

A bit cheaper but not omnidirectional. Also, they show it mounted on an iPhone 5, but the iPhone 5 does not have a socket in that corner. Plus it doesn't actually exist yet.

Vaporware....

Or for $20 you could try this one, and not risk taking your phone on the boat.

I mentioned the cheaper standalone ones.

I already have the phone on the boat. It's my clock and GPS. Not sure why we still call them phones.

I like the stand alone for $20. If you drop it overboard you are out 4 fins, not the whole school, contact list, pictures and oh so many apps
Plus people have become WAY over dependent on their smart phones. OMG put that thing away and interact with those present. Oh is there an app for that?

Was sailing with a friend a month or two ago and he snapped an iPicture of the stern wake, Instagrammed it, posted it, and before we even made the next tack it had three 'likes'.

What I need is one of these anemometers to plug into the top of my Gopro camera... With some kind of vane of course...

Then GPS in the camera... So it can figure the real wind speed with some approximation based on the apparent wind and boat speed/direction...

And just run this in a window in the bottom of the film footage... Now that would be my kinda training tool!!!!

There has to be an app for that...
