Hi All,
My first post here on the Hobie forums.
Yes I am a Newbie to Cat sailing spending most of my life on mono hulls and looking forward to racing the H16 ive just brought.
Now, I am divided here as for 7 years I raced the Moth foilers and absolutley loved it! with out a doubt one of the most thrilling sailing experiences of my life with fantastic memories.
The only concern that I have is that the foiling "Bug" doesn't infest a class of boat that is already quite affordable to race.
As the years went on in the moths for example to buy a boat that would last you 5 competitive years fell to a Hull that would last you two with foils $$$ that you needed to update once a year.
If Hobie was to invest in this Great! but I'd hate to see it do what it has done to other classes for EG now you see Lasers on foils the A class cats now foil adding extra $$ to be competitive.
As much as I loved it at the time, I also like knowing that I will be able to turn up and race my 16 when the time comes without having a class divided over the foiling obsession (yes i realise the 16's dont have centre boards
)
Look forward to following these forums
regards,
Grant
