Sorry Hobie

Well, it is official, looks like I won't be sailing a hobie. I just found and amazing deal on a nacra 5.2. It is spotless and he isn't asking much!
I am going to sell my Hobie 14T, I already have my backyard full, and need to make room, the 14 is the one that I can get the most money out of so I will have to say goodbye. This is a little sad since the 14 was my first cat.
I will still frequent this board and will probably still make inputs. Alot of the discussions on this board are not purely about hobies, alot of them are just sailing stuff. I think that the Nacra is a better boat for me. It is bigger, and just in general a little more suitable cat for the way that I sail.
So once again, sorry Hobie, I loved the 14 and who knows I might make my way back to a Hobie someday.

Sorry to see you go as well. I'm sure your aware, if you recall accepting the rules when joining the forum, there is some fine print language about if and when "going to the other side" , you will be unable to post or view the forum. That's official also!

And of course the acoustic signature of the Nacra will not match the Hobie signatures to the new smart mines planned for Hobie sponsored events...

I hope that you are kidding, I like the Hobie community but how can I resist a like new boat that only needs the sheets replaced for $500 dollars. If anyone wants to sell me a used 17 at that price I will stick with Hobie but for now I have to go.
I will continue to make usually meaningless comments about boats though.

Those are polymeric nacra-philiacs. They attack the hulls of Nacras when they are sleeping. There is no cure except to take two Hobies and call us in the morning....

Dr. Nick can confirm this if you want a second opinion.

yeah, thats the stuff I was trying to remember. I think there was some kind of nackron based paint that helped slow down the rot, but it added something like 20 lbs to the hulls and had to be mixed with some copper anti-fouling paint...

Wasnt that why the Nacras resale value dropped so dramatically...?

Okay, you can have all of that except. I rent a house since I am a college student, don't know of any kids that I have..... fingers crossed and feel free to have half my assets, since that would currently be....nothing except for a few cats (of the boat type) and a dog. I will let you have all of that as long as I get to keep my new cat.

Okay sorry for the sarcasim, I bet I am one of the poorest sailors on here. Taking 18 hours at OU, work at CVS pharmacy as a Tech, and spend every weekend at the lake. After paying for bills and rent and buying stuff for my boat I don't have much left. I had been doing really well to put away 50 dollars every month to save up for a hooter for my 14, then along came this amazing deal on this boat.

Thanks guys for not completely kicking me out, I will think of all of you all each and everytime I look over my shoulder at the boats behind me. Okay that was a joke, but I may have just doomed myself.

Nope. Not nearly as much fun as last year, with my new father-in-law and both new brother-in-laws being USC alumni....

My time at UT was back in the 70's near as I can remember. Reports are still filtering in. I sure did enjoy the weekend in Dallas, though.

I was teaching a class that was full of UT grads and one poor Aggie. The Aggie was pelted with Aggie jokes until he finally asked, "What does a UT alum call a Aggie alum four years after graduation?"

None of the UT guys knew.

The Aggie replied, "Boss."
