I may be in the wrong category.

The screws holding down my mast step were yanked out of their seatings in the hull just forward of the dagger board slot. I am wondering if anyone can provide guidance on how best to re-anchor the step to the hull. I thought of filling the screw holes with epoxy and reinserting the screws. Would that work? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm guessing they are self-tapping screws (like sheet metal or wood screws). If so, maybe you can just use a slightly longer and/or larger diameter screw. If they're threaded into a wooden back-up block, the block might be waterlogged or rotted, in which case you would want to dry it out as well as possible and maybe inject with epoxy (like Git Rot) to build up strength and give the screws something solid to grab onto.

They are indeed self-tapping. I appreciate your good ideas. Do you happen to know how deep the wooden back up block is? Thank you so much.
