Can anyone identify this gadget on my forestay adjuster?

yeah, I can't figure out how to attach one..... I have a thin piece of aluminum pinned in my forestay adjuster that looks like a big J hook. It appears that it could pin into two holes top and bottom of the adjuster and make a loop about 6"-8".
I will try to post a picture.

Part of an old wind indicator holder.

There you go... I edited and used the BB Code option and simply copied and pasted their code related to the image.

That is a funky piece of hardware. Not in the best place for a wind vane. Better if out front. Maybe a camera mount? I'm stumped.

I'm still not getting the images to paste. What exactly do you copy when viewing the image in flikr?

On Flickr... click the "Share" arrow icon below the image... then select "BBcode" as the option top of the image. Then simply Copy their code and paste into the forum post. Do not add any other code options that the forum offers. Their code works.

Looks like this (I turned of BBcode ["Disable BBCode" checked] for this post to display the code rather than the image):

another view, like I said it fits perfectly in top and bottom holes of forestay adjuster to form an odd J loop

Can your turn it around to point forward? That would make more sense as wind indicator (bridle fly) mount. Sticking forward in clear air.

I'm sure you can turn it around. Not sure if I put it on that way or it was that way when I bought it. I've been restoring the boat and have taken some stuff apart.

I'd take it off. Get a real wind vane.

Yes, I have one of those new in the package. I just hadn't seen anything like this on the market.
