H- 16 Hull pattern (Build Up)

Sirs; At one time patterns were around for re glassing ,ie; build up[ of H-16 bottom of hulls.
may have seen them in an very old hotline.
anyone know where these are available?
ps; just secured a new set of Kisme TLC,s (tiller linkage connector) for the amount stated in 1985 Murray catalogue.

This is a template for Hobie 14, 16 & 18 hulls.

Make sure that when you enlarge the image prior to printing, that the scale on the top is exactly matched to a ruler. Tape or glue the scaled template to something rigid and then cut out the template shape for your boat.

Back when I did bottom jobs almost every week, I made a tool from that template out of a childs's plastic bucket for playing on the beach in the sand. It saves a LOT, even all, of the sanding, if you get it right to start with, or at least make several thin coats that don't get too high anywhere. It's a lot easier to build up a low spot, than to knock down a high spot, and end in the right place. Take your time cutting the plastic, and smooth the edges with quick passes of a propane torch. Get the squeegee tool just right, and it will be well worth the effort.

The contour varies all the way along the bottom. The plastic squeege flexed just right using the higher up the sides of the hull as guides to make the right contour.

Getting the final build coat thickened just right helps too.

My biggest asset was a shop with a really strong air-conditioning system. I could cool it down fairly quickly to 65 or less to do a layup, and then turn it back up to normal.

Four small sawhorses to hold the flipped boats at just the right, comfortable height are worth cobbling together too.
