I have a Hobie Getaway I sail. I Like the boomless main Tho I was once struck recently by the mainsheet blocks and it left a nasty lump on my forehead. I recently aquired a Nacra 5.2 with a boom to sail. When I was younger a swinging boom from my H16 was easier to dodge. I don't move as fast now in my 60's. I have considered wearing a helment. Do they make sailing helments that don't appear noobish?

I will leave it to you to judge whether it is noobish or not...

Forward WIP supports a lot of Hobie regattas.

You can get their stuff from Murray's - http://www.murrays.com/

Sailing World (November 2016) provides a comparison of a range of sailing helmets here.

I took kiteboarding lessons in Turks & Caicos and they gives you a helmet
with communications in it which was very helpful..you could get something like that
so your wife could check on you from shore
