My sailing buddy picked up a Windrider Rave recently. Looks like I am going to learn how sail a foiling trimaran. Does any one have experience with one?

I don't have any direct experience with them, but I was going to school at FIT in Melbourne, FL when the guys were developing them there. So I saw them up close but never had a lot of interest in riding one. They are pretty complex with a lot of lines and controls and they seemed like they spent a lot more time off the foils than on. They were pretty much pigs when not foiling. One memorable "incident" was when I saw one of them hook a crab trap while fully foiling which resulted in the thing pitchpoling and having to be rescued.

I'm sure they're fun when conditions are right, but they definitely seem like something that would be better to bum rides on a friend's boat occasionally than to own one yourself.
