It's awesome! Where are you planning to sail it, Captain?

I am in the SF Bay Area, so port of Redwood City, Oyster Point and Pillar Point. Basically where the wind is blowing the strongest. I love pushing these things to the limit... All part of my adrenaline addiction

Yes, Hobie 1953 tiller connector kit does fit the Dragoon. I still need to set the toe on the rudder and then try it out on the water when we get some wind.

One of the things I was worried about when buying this boat was parts. I am finding that is shares or can use many parts from other boats which is great as long as I don't bend a cross bar or destroy the mast!

I’m hoping you guys can help me with some decisions on mast rotation.
Since I updated to the Wave/17 mast base and ball the mast is over rotating. I purchased a Hobie 18 rotation bar to attach to the mast and boom and I am using an14/16 gooseneck. With my current set up I can install the rotation bar under the boom, or I can install an 18s gooseneck on the mast and install the bar above the boom.
The later model Dragoon has the bar above the boom and it uses an 18 style gooseneck.
Please let me know your thoughts and pros and cons.

Hi!

Its been some time since you bought the boat. Any chance of an update on what you have updated and your thoughts on Dragoon ownership?

And would love to hear how you resolved your mast rotation issue. I just found one of the same batch of Dragoons in the Bay Area as well, ordered the parts to convert the mast step the same way you did.

What is so bad about the Dragoon mast step?
Why do you want/need the mast to rotate?

I may be buying a Dragoon in the next couple of weeks, so if its a good upgrade I'd really appreciate some info & I'll get mine done too!

JEZ!

Mine was broken already, so updating to the current setup wasn’t too much money over repairing with the old style, and now the parts are the same as newer dragoons and compatible with my wave spare parts. The ball step is also easier on the aging back as it offers a little extra leverage at the mast base when lifting.
