I’m looking to start sailing around the bay. I recently bought a trac 14 to learn the basics of cat sailing, but down the line i’m interested in upgrading to either a hobie 16 or 18 and really start flying hulls. I’m relatively new to San Francisco, so I’m hoping to join a local club or any locals open to a second crew member to get out on the water as often as possible.

Has it been this long since I’ve logged in?

Where are you located?

Regretfully, SF Bay does not have a strong group of recreational cat sailors, at least in the East Bay, probably because there are few mast-up storage places, and the storage fees can be expensive.

Richmond Yacht Club has storage and is friendly to cats. Alameda Community Sailing Center (https://www.sailalameda.org/) is also a good place to make friends.
