Holder 12

My Holder 12 has no padeyes or cleats on the deck by the mast. Not sure of the year of the boat. Did some come with none? How do I secure the mast?

May be pre-Hobie production or possibly the FunSeeker model that was a bit simplified. Your mast is held in with gravity and the mainsheet system, but if you want extra security, you could add a tether I would think. I think the Sunfish is the same.

Thanks Matt. Also hiking strap is broken. Any suggestions on where to find a replacement ?

Webbing and a grommet. Seems a sail loft or even an upholstery shop could fabricate.

The Sunfish mast is held down by the halyard through a pulley or fairlead on deck to a deck cleat. It uses a lateen sail, not a sleeved sail like the Holder. The hot setup for Sunnys is to add a mast cleat for the halyard, then run the free end of the halyard down through the pulley, and up around the lower boom, then down to the cleat to act as a downhaul.
