Hello All,

Anyone know of any good spots to store an old H16? Only looking to keep on/near the beach during sailing season. I'm local to Annapolis, but haven't had any luck aside from a few full blown marinas which seem overkill.

I currently have the boat on a tagged trailer, but would like to be able to just shove into the water and go since I'll rarely have someone to bring with (bought last summer, have yet to take it on the water since trailering/setup solo is tough).

I'm fine with paying for a spot, just can't justify a full marina membership since all I really need is storage and launch.

In the Places to Sail section on this site there is some past discussion on the Maryland area. Try doing a search.

I live in Maryland as well and on the Annapolis side of the bay your options are very limited. There are lots of Hobie's around but most are launching from private property or some community owned property only available to residents. For mast up storage the only publicly available options I know of are yacht clubs or marinas.

there is a rental place in Gunpowder State Park https://www.easternwatersports.com/ but I don't think they offer seasonal storage.
Baltimore Community Sailing Center is another option but again I don't believe they offer seasonal storage either.

Your best options that I know of where there are Hobies with mast up storage are Podickory Point yacht club or West River Sailing Club.

There might be something else up Harve de Grace way but I don't know.

I am a member at Severn Sailing Association and either sail there or from private property.

For day launching Sandy Pt. State Park seems the best option but there is no overnight storage there.

Morning Rich,

I did speak with WRSC and Podickory Point and unfortunately they're both jam packed and taking names for the waiting list.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like I'm stuck with trailering, but I'll try the search.

What a bummer to live near the water but be so limited on access. I never cared when I had powerboats, the Hobie however is just about impossible to get set up and in the water by myself.

Easy water access is looking pretty grim aside from standard boat ramps.

I may be parting with the boat since it's really more work to launch by myself than I can justify.
