Okay, I'm a newbie. Just purchased a Hobie 16 with a ripped (light blue) tramp which I need to replace. Seems like there are a lot of black ones out there. It also seems to me that a black tramp that's sitting in the Chicago sun in the summer time would be hotter than Hades. Is there something desirable about a black tramp? What do I need to know?

Thanks for helping out this very excited newbie!

Black tramps don't show dirt.

They don't get that hot, because they're mesh.

I have a blue mesh tramp on my 14 and it looks like crap after being on the road for a few hundred miles. All that air flowing through it - it's like a filter for road grime.

Don't have that problem on my 16, 17 and Tiger - they all have black tramps.

New Hobie mesh tramps come in four different colors - Black, Turquoise, Blue, and Gray. New Hobie vinyl tramps come only in White.

And my new to me H18 has a black tramp too. My wave has a blue tramp though. I don't trailer that boat though...
