Division 8 Regatta Schedule - 2015

Here is the preliminary 2015 Regatta Schedule for Division 8. This coming year has at least 7 full weekend regattas on the calendar, and leaves open time to participate in the Mid-winters in March or April as well as next year’s Hobie North Americans Championships taking place in September. 2015 is shaping up to be a good year to be racing a Hobie in Florida!!

Tradewinds Regatta - January 17-19 - HCA POINTS REGATTA This is a three day regatta over Martin Luther King Holiday weekend. This is an annual regatta that takes place on Islamorada in the Florida Keys. There is always a good class of Hobie Waves and Hobie 16s. Sailors from across the country come down to get some sailing in during the winter. Points will count for Hobie classes that follow the Hobie HCA one-design class rules.

Charlotte Harbor Regatta - February 5-8 – HCA POINTS REGATTA This is the 6th year for this regatta and typically has a class of Hobie 16s and Hobie Waves compete in their own classes. This regatta also has an annual winter contingent from NY and even California. This was also an event with three days of racing.

Gulfport Yacht Club - April 24-26 - HCA POINTS REGATTA - This is the annual Multi-hull regatta for this club in Gulfport/St. Petersburg Florida. This is also the home yacht club of Hobie Fleet 5, which was reactivated in mid-2012. This has a good field of Hobie 16’s.
Information about GYC and the NOR can be found on their website: http://www.gulfportyachtclub.com/

Kelly Park River Regatta - May 23-24 - HCA POINTS REGATTA This is a Multi-hull regatta with its own Hobie 16 fleet and takes place over Memorial Day Weekend. The location is Kelly Park which is located on the inter-coastal waters behind Coco Beach.
The host yacht club is the Indian River Yacht Club, and the NOR can be found on their website at: http://www.iryc.org/ and also at http://www.fleet80.com/

Summer Sizzler Daytona Beach - June - HCA POINTS REGATTA This two day event was hosted by Daytona Cat Sailors Fleet 80 Club and has Hobie 16s participate as well as a strong open fleet as well.
Information can be found at http://www.fleet80.com/

Wildcat Regatta Lake Eustis - October 3-5 - This two day event was hosted by the Lake Eustis Sailing Center and has Hobie 16s, Hobie Waves and others participate in open classes separated by spinnaker and non-spinnaker classes.
Information will be available at: http://lescfl.com/Racing/Regattas/Wildcat.aspx

9th Buzzelli Multi Hull Rendezvous – October 16-18 HCA POINTS REGATTA
This weekend event is open to all multi-hulls and this past year saw the first fleet of Hobie 16’s participate in their own class. Sailing takes place on the beautiful intercoastal waterways of Sarasota Bay, and is hosted at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron on Lido Key, home of St. Armands Circle and Mote Marine Aquarium. We hope to capitalize on our success this year and grow our participation next year.
Info can be found at http://sarasotasailingsquadron.org/ and also at https://www.regattanetwork.com/clubmgmt ... LUB_ID=204

In addition to the above don’t forget about the twice-a-month club races at the Gulfport Yachtclub:

Gulfport Yacht Club Club Race Series - This yacht club is Gulfport/St.Petersburg Florida hosts a Saturday Club race twice a month on the first and third Saturday. This typically involves 2-4 buoy races. Typically it starts with one open Portsmouth class which is most A-Cats and Hobie 16s. After the first start, the following races go off separately for the A-class and Hobie 16 class as necessary. These races are a great way to keep your sailing skills in shape, and to get out for a day of competitive buoy racing. Gulfport Yacht Club is also home to Hobie Fleet 5. See the clubs website for schedule and more details. http://www.gulfportyachtclub.com/

Hope to see you there.
