Division 8 Regatta Schedule - 2017

Here is the preliminary 2017 Regatta Schedule for Division 8. This coming year has at least 7 full weekend regattas on the calendar, and includes our first ever “Winter Series” of three regattas where a “Series Champion” will be crowned at this years Mid-Winters East, held in March at Davis Island. The schedule is also open for sailors to attend this year’s Hobie 16 North Americans Championships taking place in June. 2017 is shaping up to be a good year to be racing a Hobie in Florida!!

1st Inaugural Bluster-on-the-Bay Regatta - January 13-15 - HCA POINTS REGATTA This is a three day regatta over Martin Luther King Holiday weekend. This is the first time for this regatta and will be the kick-off to the Divisions “Winter Series” of three Regattas taking place in Jan - March. Sailors from across the country come down to get some sailing in during the winter. Points will count for Hobie classes that follow the Hobie HCA one-design class rules. This is a Resort style regatta taking place at the Magnuson Beach Resort on Tampa Bay in St. Petersburg Florida.

Charlotte Harbor Regatta - February 2-5 – HCA POINTS REGATTA This is the 8th year for this regatta and typically has a class of Hobie 16s and Hobie Waves compete in their own classes. This will also be the second of the three race “Winter Series”. This regatta also has an annual winter contingent from NY and even California. This was also an event with three days of racing.

Buzzelli Mulit-hull Rendezvous - October - This two day regatta takes place in late October at the Sarasota Sailing Squadron.

In addition to the above don’t forget about the twice-a-month club races at the Gulfport Yachtclub:

Gulfport Yacht Club Club Race Series - This yacht club is Gulfport/St.Petersburg Florida hosts a Saturday Club race twice a month on the first and third Saturday. This typically involves 2-4 buoy races. Typically it starts with one open Portsmouth class which is most A-Cats and Hobie 16s. After the first start, the following races go off separately for the A-class and Hobie 16 class as necessary. These races are a great way to keep your sailing skills in shape, and to get out for a day of competitive buoy racing. Gulfport Yacht Club is also home to Hobie Fleet 5. See the clubs website for schedule and more details. m http://www.gulfportyachtclub.com/ m

Hope to see you there.
