Please note changed dates!

Hi folks, I am planning a weekend trip to Broughton Islands by Islands!

Leaving from the ramp nearest to Tomaree in Shoal Bay, NSW, this is a nice offshore sail of around 12nm along the coast. If you are interested, please PM me your details so I can add you to the mailing list. This is a bring-your-own camping and eating provisions trip, weather dependent of course, and it will be prudent to carry some safety equipment, ideally including a VHF for group comms. Do not apply if the idea of baby mutton birds sitting on your lap scares you! (Camping platform rental available from NPWS).

I have booked platform #3 on Broughton Island, and this wooden platform (seen here, which is between one of the grassed sites in the foreground and the long-drop toilet up the hill) can accommodate up to 6 people.

As the trip involves about 12 miles of ocean sailing, weather will obviously be the determining factor as to whether the trip is on. There are no other facilities there other than the toilet up the hill (although there are a lot of fishermen's "huts" in the next bay), so participants will need to be self-sufficient in terms of food, drink and shelter, but it is a very nice place to visit.

Booking fee is $18 per person (bargain!)

Please let m know if you want to join us on a great weekend.

Weather report is looking good! Wind around 15 knots ENE, tide going out Saturday morning, and coming in on our return. Temp around 28 degrees C. Sounds ideal!Late acceptances welcome! o4143468o4

Ouch! Stephen, skipper of the other TI scheduled for the Broughton Island trip this weekend, just broke an arm during a mountain bike ride. His disappointment was obvious during the phone call, and had already completed most of the preparation. Instead, he faces surgery today, and a six week "holiday" from using his TI. Bummer.
