Hmmm. :?
Just as well your wife realised Slaughter! At least it's still early in our planning! :)

OK -some new dates.
I can do the following two weeks with the same days in mind. After that I can do the last two weeks of May but only really the Sat -Tues option. :)

Mickey,
I'm still trying to find camping sites we could pull up to in the kayaks. Honeymoon Bay is a possible and Bristol Point would be more suitable than Greenpatch.

Stringy - thanks for all your research 8) All the photos I've looked at on Google Earth etc of the various camp sites look fantastic :D Honeymoon Bay looked really good. The only apprehension I have is the distance we may have to walk our gear in  Aldi had foldup wheelbarrows on their weekly specials today & I thought it could be handy for wheeling all our stuff in

Y'know if we held back a bit we just might be able to do the trip on our new TI   However, I guess it might not be the best plan to go on such an adventure the day after your new baby arrives

Looks like there are some great spots Mickey. Honey Moon Bay is a must visit I reckon! :)

Only open weekends though. :?
Funny, I've been thinking about the possibility of the TI being available for this trip as well. Have to wait and see!

It's an incredible coincidence that we are camping outside their (Hobie Australasia's) front door
Do you think we could get factory direct pickup if we went down during the week.

At least my wife is on the ball. How bout we go the following week, same plan, ie: Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun. With backup depending on weather Sat Sun, Mon, Tues. Sorry for the stuff around. How does that fit with everyone ?

Look'n forward to this one. Just hope we can get the camping sorted out. Hmmmm......how big is this houseboat of yours Mickey ?

My new 65 litre dry'ish bag came through the mail today. Hope to give it a go over the weekend to see how dry. It takes sleeping bag, 2 bed rolls, tent, pillow, boots and warm camp shirt and pants, and fit the AI's back well like a finger in a donut. I spose now I'd better get onto that hammock project as a backup plan just in case the camping fun police are on patrol.

P.S. There is no way I'm tell'n the mates at work that I'm going to Honey Moon Bay with some blokes I've met on the net.

I'm gonna have to move back into the "maybe" category. I'll see how things pan out as we get closer to May.
Slaughter, you'll have to show your mates a photo of Stringy with his new pink anchor mounted on the bow of his boat.

 That won't be happening Chris. I'm still trying to explain away the flowery sun shelter.

The pink anchor will only be coming out when necessary and will be quickly thrown overboard or buried DEEPLY in sand and out of sight.
The flowery sunshelter is a bit more visible but it was cheap and was part of my plan for overnighting on Cowan Creek. It would never be mistaken for a tent. "I'm not camping Mr Ranger, just sheltering from the sun and after dark, sleeping on the beach"
Chris,
Would a later weekend suit you better?

You all know I'm fairly flexible with dates. However I do have a commitment on 6 June and am a featured vocalist at the Merimbula Jazz Festival the following w/end - Queens Birthday long w/e. :)

Thanks guys. The problem is I won't know exactly what my commitments are for May until after April 20th. At this stage, the weekends of the 15th-16th or 29th-30th May are looking more promising, but I don't want to muck everyone around, then find out I'm unable to make it anyway.
Mickey, you are a man of many parts. Perhaps a command performance on Honeymoon Bay would be in order.

At this stage I'm wondering if Currarong Caravan park might be the best base for camping?
It's ideally located to explore either the ocean or the bay and the Beecroft Peninsula and Point Perpendicular. From what I can make out there is creek access as well as a sand boat ramp to the sea.
Given the unusual camping restrictions at Honeymoon Bay and the other eastern areas of JB, plus the popularity of Greenpatch and Bristol Point this may be our best option?
Some possibilities:
A-Currarong as Base Camp and do day trips
B- Launch from Nowra and overnight at Currarong then stay and do day trips
C-Launch from Currarong and overnight at Bristol Point or Honeymoon Bay if allowed.
Any thoughts?

PS -I can't sing a note and don't own a grass skirt and frankly the thought of any of you in a grass skirt is very unappealing!

I'm gunna get up on my soapbox soon. These camping restriction throughout this country really infuriate me. If you blokes want to be rebels and do an illegal camp then I'm up for it. There is a lot of remote beach line where any ranger would have to use a boat to get to us. OK they probably would, but lucky AI's are so well camouflaged in their 'Blend in with the Environment Yellow' and 'Now you see me, Now you don't Red'. Option A may be best but doesn't it 'P' ya off that we have this beautiful coastline and we are relegated to being crammed in between Edna's Jayco caravan and Merv's Winna-friggn-baygo.
