Matt

I received the new accessory catalog and hoped there was an 8" Hatch Bag to fit the AI twist-n-seal opening. Does Hobie offer an 8" bag for another boat that would work in the AI 8" opening?

Thank you

The twist-n-seal hatch bag is only available in 6". No 8" version yet. Only the 8" gear bucket. The 6" bag was not specifically designed for the twist-n-seal, but a left over flange from the older hatches made it work. A new 8" is requiring some thought due to the odd shape caused by the screw latch. It has been on the engineers list of items of interest. Its a long list though.

Thank you, hopefully an 8" will be available in the future.

Can't Hobie make a bucket with no compartments (instead of the gear bucket style) to fit in the 8" hatch? It's handy in my Cobra kayak to store my phone, sunscreen, etc in that hatch between my legs. It needs to be deeper than the gear bucket if possible. I always put my phone in a small dry bag so the bucket doesn't have to be water tight, in my opinion. This should be an easy one to check off the engineer's list. I could take the gear bucket to work and have a friend draw it up in Pro/E and have it made but that'd cost more of course. :)

We "can" do these things, but the molds for this type of item (injection molding) are VERY expensive. We have to make decisions based on sale-ability vs covering cost of production. We are still considering a deeper bucket.

Hi btstroud,
I've cut some of the fixed "walls" of the gear bucket to make the compartments bigger. This makes it really useful to me. I also use it to store my phone (in its own little dry bag), keys, something to eat etc. Quite handy! I would'nt mind if it was a bit deeper though.

I ended up just keeping the hobie dry bag in the hatch. Not as convenient of course but it holds a lot. It doesn't slide around to much with the right amount of air in it.

I saw a solution on a web site that uses a 5 quart mixing bucket that fit perfectly in that hatch. HoeDepot Canda gas the exact thing but i was able to buy a smiliar bucket here in Houston that fits but it need a very minor modification. I hope that help.
