I sail on Lake Palestine outside of Tyler, Tx. there is a great beach to hang out on and drag your hobie up on. If we could get a group to show up out there, like the jet boats do 2 times a year, they would have a band for the evening. If your in east Texas let me know and maybe we could all get together....everyones always invited.

Kinda late but I finally found this post. I am from ET, Lindale to be exact and I sail Palestine every once in a while. Where is the beach? Where do you launch?

Walter

Hi, I'm in Tyler. I'd like to get a Hobie Getaway towards the summer if all stars align...
Would like to hear about sailing around here, too.

The best option for near the Tyler area is Lake Palestine. You've got a lot of room to roam even though SH 155 bisects the lake in half. I prefer the east side. I have sailed Lake Tyler and it is fun as well just not as big as Palestine. There is the yacht club at Lake Tyler that sails many weekends and has a regatta or two each year. I have only sailed those 2 plus Lake Holbrook in Mineola, but it is small. Give me a shout if you get the Getaway. I have a 16. Still need lots of experience, but I am getting there.

Hey Guys,

I'm not too far away, I sail out of the Shreveport Yacht Club on Cross Lake. We've got a great club here, including 2 H20s, 1 H16 and 1 Wave. There's also a bunch of old rotten derilict Hobies sitting around that never sail. We'll have our spring Holiday in Dixie regatta towards the end of April or early May. I'll keep you posted.

I attended the Division 14 Daggerboard Divisionals back in the fall on Lake Tawakoni, just up the road from Tyler and Lindale. Tawokoni is a great lake. It's HUGE.

I know a couple of other Hobie sailors in Tyler, one with H20 and another with a H16. If you like, send me your personal emails to [email protected] and I'll put you guys in contact with my guys.

Any Hobie sailor in East Texas should join Fleet 23 in Dallas. Membership isn't required to participate in their regattas, but I think you'll be more tuned in to Hobie related events, news, etc. if you joined the fleet. I raced in two of their regattas on Lake Lewisville last summer. They're a great bunch of folks and they do a great job of running regattas. Here's a link to the Fleet 23 site: http://www.hobiefleet23.com. I hope to see you guys at a regatta this summer, maybe this spring in Shreveport.
