Trentec Jib Cars Question

So, after doing research I thoroughly am confused. My jib sheet setup has a traveler (Trentec Cars in Place) on both the port and starboard sides. But I only have one swivel cam cleat on each side of the boat.

The examples I have seen have two separate swivel cam cleats on both port and starboard sides, and little pulleys on the bow corner castings.

Any clues as to how my jib was rigged??

You need a cleat on each side for the traveller control lines, but swivel cleats are total overkill.

Lance cleats or small cam cleats are the standard.

I am not sure what you mean exactly about the control lines. I just looked at a diagram for the trentec setup and a couple of pictures of a boat with the trentec setup.

The control lines run from the outermost hole in the Trentec car, to the turning block on the corner casting, then through a cleat on the way to the opposite side of the boat.

It's what pulls the car out to the corner.

I have the same cars. And I only have one swivel cam cleat for the traveller on the starboard side. I have been just using one for 2 yearsbut I am about to change it up . My current setup is : control line thru swivel cam (starboard side) thru turning block at end of jib track to outer hole on starboard side. I had a line running from innermost hole on starboard side across crossbar in front of mast thru turning block on port side to outermost hole over there. Innermost hole on port side has bungee attached to dolphin striker to pull trentec cars to center.
This has worked okay even though it is very hard to pull because both travellers are pulling at once and I never got the line perfect so the port side stops a little short of all the way outboard..
I just bought lance cleats so I am installing those on each side. Both sides the line goes thru lance cleat thru turning block to the outermost hole on each car. 2 middle holes are for jib sheet . Innermost hole on each side is for bungee to bring car back to center. I am going to have the bungee connecting the cars, if that doesn't perform right I will attach each to dolphin striker.
When I got my boat 2 years ago I had a tough time getting info on teh trentec cars. If you look up the Brazil (brasil) hobie assembly manual I guess maybe they came with those cars because that helped me.

Make sure you position the cheek block so that the outhaul line (attached to the Trentec car) moves parallel along the track. Then make sure the swivel cleat it returns through is positioned forward enough on the rail for the outhaul line to miss the swivel cleat that the jib sheet runs through.

One thing that may not be totally clear is the fact that you need to tie a piece of shock cord between the two plastic cars. Tie it from the inboard hole of one to the inboard hole of the other. This is what returns them to center when you uncleat the outhaul line.

THEN, I saw this set up on a boat at the boat yard and realized that the twin swivel cam cleats just might be overkill as MBounds points out.
