I've heard not to use Soft Scrub WITH BLEACH on the hulls but I know someone that did it on their Wave and said it worked great. Is there any reason to think the bleach in the soft scrub would hurt the hulls. Would it be good to avoid the decals or would they be OK with Soft Scrub with Bleach too.

Thanks, Doug

I think that is fine.

I used it and it worked fine. It did dull my hulls, but you really can't tell unless your looking. They are white again and that was my main goal.

Soft scrub seems a little to harsh to me, although the bleach will not actually hurt the hull material (bleach bottles are made of almost the same material!). I stand behind recommendations I have made in the past. For stains like the black streaks from rain, algae, even general cleaning, I use an automotive or marine cleaner wax. The small amount of abrasive will not scratch and dull like soft scrub. And the wax remaining makes future cleaning a breeze. I would just be careful around the graphics w/ anything abrasive. Especially the Hobie diamond logo which is applied in the molding process. You can buff that right off if you are not careful.

I use a gas powered pressure washer on my kayak, which is made of the same rotomolded poly as the Getaway hulls, and it really takes the dirt out well. I can clean the entire kayak in about 5 minutes. After a winter of sitting outside - even being covered - it gets pretty dirty. You do have to be careful around the rubber gaskets and decals, but other than that, it's a breeze. I have been doing this for years, and have never damaged anything.

you can also use VIM and it doesn't have to have the bleach in it.
I use vim all the time and it doesn't make the hulls dull or anything.
and use the pressure washer.

I also rub some vim on the really dirty parts then I just go to the corner self serve car wash and power wash the boat, comes out looking new. Just be carefull around the decals.

I've used the Mr. Clean Magic cleaning sponge.

Wet the hulls and start rubbing. The dark streaks go away without any effort. Rinse with clean water and you're done. Takes less than 5 minutes and doesn't require any equipment. I store my sponge in the hull storage compartment until I need it again. Should last for several washings before needing to be replaced.

It didn't however touch the stains on my rudders. I'm still trying to find a good cleaner for them.
