Hi we have dropped our hobie 16 mast a few times and it is now bent from tje tang upwards....can anyone pls advise if tthis can be repaired...does it need to be repaired??

It's very hard to get it perfectly straight again. There are a lot of methods to get it close - using a couple of trees close together as a bending jig, weighting the mast with sandbags (while supported on sawhorses), etc.

The easiest (but not the cheapest) way to fix it straight if the bend is above the hounds is to Comptip the mast. You cut off the bent part and replace it with the Comptip. Hobie Cat encourages dealers to sell the Comptips at cost for first-time retrofits.

Thank you very much for the reply....as it happens our Hobie blew over on the weekend in shallow water and this seemed to straighten the mast nicely ! :D appreciate your reply!

What?....how the heck can anyone have luck like that? LOL...well I don't know how you're leading your life but it appears you're doing it right!

My boy's new 14 has a bananna mast...think I could run it to you for a couple weeks and see if you can have a repeat performance?
