I want to buff out my hulls which are oxidized.

With a 7" electric polisher my plan is:
1. Buff with a "rough cut" compound
2. Buff with a "polishing" compound
3. Wax hulls

Does anyone have any compund/wax recomendations? Im leaning towards a 3M product.

Also can the non-skid be buffed?

3M Perfectit III Extra Cut, which breaks down into a fine polish, so no secondary step in needed.

The nonskid can not really be buffed.

Surf City is right on about buffing
I did this and put on Poly Glow on the hulls and Comp Tip
They look better than new

Has anybody got any good ideas for restoring color on anti-skid decks?

Thanks,

Are there any issues with buffing or polishing over the tops of the hulls where there is the anti-skid texture.

You'll destroy your buffing pad if you're using a machine over the non-skid. If you want to buff out the areas between, mask off the non-skid. It's pointless to buff / polish the textured areas.

In my experience, there's only one way to partially restore the non-skid area and that's by soda blasting. It won't bring back the gloss, but it will remove the oxidation.

I think Poly-Glow makes something for the non skid also
Former Hobie Admiral Gary
PS My nonskid has never been to shiny anyway If the rest of the boat is like new I do not think the non skid will make that much difference

I've put Poly Glow on my non-skid, it works great. It leaves a shiny, glossy finish. It dries clear and doesn't gum up the pattern. However, I would only use it on the decks (top part of the hulls). If it were on the lower part of the hull, I think it might cause more drag and slow you down.
