Anyone have ideas/pics for mounting a fishfinder to the AI front crossbar? I've searched the posts but there is little information specific to the AI. picked up my AI a couple months back and just getting to rig her up - has the new style crossbar (2011).

I think for most people the front crossbar is too far away to see and press buttons. I'm mounting mine just forward of the side pockets (on a RAM ball mount) like I do with my GPS. It's mostly out of the way, and just close enough to lean forward to press buttons.

a cheap RAM C Ball rail strap should do it.

hmmm, I may have to re-think my approach...

Thanks all for the input and esp the info on the RAM C Ball rail strap!

fishman,

Ditto what reconlon posted. Initially, I had my FF installed on the rear xbar of my TI and found it somewhat of a nuisance to stop pedalling so that I can lean forward to access its controls. Although I went with a different option, mounting the FF forward of or inside the pockets looks like the way to go. Somewhat out of the way when you're working the rails while fishing. And it can be easily installed on the rail opposite to where you plan to bring most of your fish in.

I ended up going with a xbar mount and an extension arm since it gave me the option to position the FF closer to the rear seat or it can be swung to the side to allow viewing from both seats on my TI. So far so good after one season.

That looks like an excellent solution
