What are people using to secure fixtures to the Aka Bars. Is there anything ready available to fit the diameter of the Aka Bars :?:

I have some Marine Ply and want to make some "rigid" skinny tramps. Probably about 1ft width. I figure 30cm width. Will make a useful "baiting up area" and potentially a place to mount a fishfinder with no mods to the yak itself. If succesful I want to look at the option of an outboard as in the motormount thread as an option on calm days in the estuary.

Thinking of fixing with U type bracket with a machine part to spread the pressure on the bar (home made for the job or purchased if there is something suitable).

How bout somthin like this? Couple wraps of velcro or bungees is all that's required.
You can screw as many mounts/accessories to this as you want.

Motor mounting, though, is a whole different deal.

Hi Pav. I've been using Stauffs for camera mounts etc and they work well however they are not quick release.

http://www.au.stauff.com/index.php?id=1423

They are available at most hydraulic suppliers like Parker, Enzed, Pirtek ( if you're in Australia )

There was another rubber clamp that was a quick connect that was posted by someone a while back. It was sold in boating places and I have searched the threads for it but can't seem to find the details. Does anyone remember ?

They look ideal. I will borrow the idea of the plastic downpipe to locate onto the bars.

I plan to have a baiting up area / and fit the fishfinder. Will post back what I make.

Thanks.

Yes- you can just cut some PVC pipe to do this.

I would glue/screw a little closed-cell foam or neoprene padding strips in there, to protect your Aka paint and keep things quieter for fishing.
