I'm heading to Perdido Key this summer in July and was wondering if anyone in the area could give me some info on a boat ramp and normal summer wind expectations. I've got a Getaway with no beach wheels so I'd rather use a ramp unless there's a place that you can drive out on the beach. I carried it last year in South Carolina and nearly broke my back. Thanks guys.

You can make these for under $100 without cradles, $200 with. They work GREAT on hard and soft sand, just not to well on uneven ground. DON'T put the extra holes in them and use butter tops for washers. Put some silicone around the washers and connectors. You can find the barrels http://www.stores.yahoo.com/baytec/30galfoodgra.html Here is the article on wheels http://www.geocities.com/mec_coleman/tip13.htm Save your back !!!

Call me if you have any questions

Sailboatcaptain,

I know there are ramps on both the Gulf and on the bay near Perdido Pass. Great spots for sailing. If you need to rent wheels you may be able to from Key Sailing. I have rented Hobies for a couple of years from Key Sailing (great co).

If I get my way I may bring down the F17 for sailing off of Ono Island for a week in April.

BTW - I am relocating to Canton, GA and bringin' a F17.

Where are you based in GA? Do you sail in GA?

Regards,

Ken

I'm in Augusta, GA and I sail on Strom Thurmond Lake. I think Atlanta's Lake Lanier may be your best bet.
