North Coast Catamarans is looking to start a Fleet. We had a meeting last night and are turning the paperwork in to hopefully be recognized by NAHCA and a proper fleet. We had 7 boat owners at the meeting last night and hope to grow more .

What's the closest city, Rich?

I'll try to track down an historical fleet number for you, otherwise, you'll probably end up being Fleet 942 (Fleet 941 was just awarded to a group in SW Utah)

Eureka CA.
Arcata CA.
Humboldt County.
I think they had looked to see if numbers were available and asked for the ones the group liked best as a possibility.

Can we request a number if its currently not in use or do we just get the assigned number. I know Fleet 51 had to request that specific number. We were thinking of bieng the sister fleet to Santa Cruz fleet 240 and we could be North Coast Catamarans Fleet 420.

And if you're applying for a Hobie Fleet number, then it's Hobie Fleet XXX, none of this generic "catamarans" BS. I've seen that before, too. Hobie Fleets (and whole divisions) run by people who own other brands of catamarans.

Homie don't play that.

I can't believe it.

Fleet 420 was in Lakeport, CA - only about 135 miles from Eureka - and it was inactive in 1983. However, by 1989, it had been re-assigned to a fleet in Mijas, Spain. There is no Spanish National HCA, and there's no fleet listing on the European HCA site.

You might be in luck, but you'll need to get to David Brookes to get that number.

We are all Hobie sailors. We are just merging North Coast Catamarans into a Hobie Fleet. Playing nice with the yacht club working on having a Regatta hopefully next year.

It will be known as Hobie Fleet 420(?) or XXX we are just working from the base that exists.

How would I contact the Divid Brookes you speak of. BTW the paperwork is bieng typed up and submitted nice and formal like. Then I know we go through Division # 3 rep to national level. I was just getting a feel and letting people know we sail behing the Redwood Curtain.

David Brookes is the Executive Secretary of the IHCA. He is the formal "keeper of the fleet numbers" although his records are kind of sketchy. BTW, he's an Aussie, so his clock is backwards from ours.

Thanks Matt

I have sent MR. Brookes an E mail asking about the number and reinstating it back home on the north coast.

Thanks for the help Matt.
Mr Brookes just got back to me and said that number is available and gave us the green light so to say.

Now we have to deal with that Jason Moore character, and then the Wessles.

Thanks Again Matt.

Hello Rich,
Are there any 18's in your group?

And will you be sailing on lakes or the ocean?

Corkguy 18's

Hobie18 Rich,
I am interested in see if you have come up with a fleet logo yet.Something fun about fleet 420.I think you may want to really put some effort into it because there is surely a market for a whimsical but tasteful (sailing and 420)apparel.I will take an extra large all cotton hoody or tee shirt.Maybe one that's uv resistant, anti chaffing, long sleeve tee shirts?
I still remember the 70's and my hippie days down in Miami,Fl.Sailing my '69 Sunfish all around Biscayne Bay and not a care in the world, except what put a smile on my face...............
