:o

Mate, here in Australia, that would be a $250.00 dollar fine and I would not be able to move the ute/truck until another source of legal transport was found and the kayaks secured. If I dare talk back while they write a ticket, they would probably put the car off the road as well just for good measure.

Ah, but here....I never even bothered to put the lights on the new Trailex trailer. I didn't bother registering the trailer, either. Nobody cares if a boat trailer has a license plate or lights on it here. What's the point? Charging money for a license plate doesn't make it a better trailer, now does it.

nor do they care if I haul my unregistered, unlighted trailer down to the boat ramp with a beer in my hand. As long as I do not cause a problem, it's all good.

Keith - I went to use my Trax 2 beach cart this morning to unload my AI of my trailer & was shocked to discover that the pin was missing from the elasticised end cap! Fortunately I discovered it was rattling around inside the cart frame. :)
Whilst attempting to retrieve it, the shock cord popped out of thus end cap - just at the time I retrieved the pin. :o
Now I have a little job ahead of me to put everything back together & ( hopefully) find a way to ensure that it does not come apart again!
I think you can see where I am going with this tale

I tried it and it works great! Boat from home to the bay and back. All intestines still in the places they belong!

Cool.

I was going to suggest maybe laying a 4.8 sheet of something like 1/2" ply to bridge the gap between the tailgate and the cross bar, but sounds like you don't need it.
