Fabricated an anti pitch pole hydrofoil out of a used snowboard and a 2x4 cut in half that is three times the size of the catalog offering. New to this Hobie game and thought it would be fun to scream without going airborne.

What do you think?

I live in Colorado and the H 16 is in Wisconsin and there is not much to do in the Winter when the lake is 6-10 inches of solid ice !

That is cool I always thought the hobie one was way over priced. Not much demand. I would love to see how they work. Its a skateboard right? You could even make the plane bigger and your bow would jump over waves.

I just lash 3 barrels to each hull's bow, like captain Quint. She can't stay down with three barrels, not with 3 barrels she can't!

Make sure you take a video camera out with you testing this, it's either going to work great or amplify your pitchpoles to truely epic proportions!!

I wonder how big you would have to make those so the boat could never pitchpole??

It's actually a snow board cut in thirds with the middle removed.
After making the first one I added 4 inches to the length for the second one.
Other posts said Murray's was too small so this is my fix.
I live in Loveland, CO, but the 16 is in Wisconsin, heading back there in June to try it out.
The whole purpose was to keep my wife from going airborne = I think it sounds like fun to do an occasional pitch pole to cool off.
I have had the 16 for 5 years, just spent another $400. on parts, and it will only be the second time out on it since I bought it. First time was a disaster = didn't rig it right WITH the former owners "help". Got it handled this time!
