You mount the si outside the hull and the "normal" transducer inside the hull. There is a splitter cable that will allow you to connect both simultaneously.

You do not have to switch from one to the other for different functions, BUT, the SI transducer is the only one that does down imaging. The through hull transducer will be a typical split beam type that does classic depth and graph type display only. The fancy foot work is done by the externally mounted si transducer.

Enjoy, Phill

I am looking for a good GPS/Fishfinder unit. Anyone have any recommendations?

I just got a new PA a month ago and I was also looking for the best GPS/FF I could afford and I decided on the Humminbird 788 ci HD DI (Down Imaging) and I am very happy with is. The DI transducer can be mounted to shoot through the Hull but and SIde Imaging models will require the transducer to be mounted external.

Here is a link where I got my GPS/FF for abot $150 less than anywhere else I found it. http://www.universalmania.com/product.a ... d=408130-1

Good Luck...
Bob
