does anybody know how to mount the saddles? I'm trying to figure out if they can be mounted to Yakima/Thule racks (with 67in space between bars) or do the Hobie saddles only mount to Hobie/Trailex trailers. I'm ,thinking of converting a PWC trailer to carry my AI solo and another boat occassionally gear etc that will permit transportation and launching of AI directly into salt water off boat ramps, etc.

i hope i've posted this in an acceptable area. I've searched for saddle mounting instructions and can't find anything. Hobie on the phone told me that the saddles come with no mounting hardware and that the mounting hardware comes with the Hobie/Trailex AI trailers.

Many thanks in advance for any help.

Jeff

We have two AI's on the standard Hobie double AI trailer. It's a Hobie 14 trailer with two metal crossbeams on the frame, and the saddles just bolt onto those crossbeams. There is also a T post for carrying the masts, but that is unrelated to the saddles.

To answer your specific question, each saddle has two holes in flat base sections, and they could be bolted to anything as long as it is solid and there is about the right distance between them.

Let me know if you want me to measure mine. Here's a pic showing both our boats loaded on the trailer, plus my foldable kayak sitting atop the mast carrier.

I used wood bars and wood screws on my trailer for TI. There are some pics on
