I just bought a '74 HC and one of the connections between the pontoon and trampoline is a little loose. Is this something I should be concerned about?

Its not really dangerous but your boat's rigidity affects its performance. The pylon bolts are shoulder bolts and only keep the frame and hulls from separating. You can't really tighten that connection. As old as your boat is all four are probably somewhat loose. You need to shim between the pylons and the corner castings. I used some aluminum roofers flashing I got at Lowes.
