I was planning this trip for quite a while since I purchased my TI last year.

For those who got wind of AlohaDan's pitch pole maneuver, Part IV includes a video of the conditions and route. Kelly Harrison, and Bert (AlohaDan's guest) joined in on this journey.

Hope you all don't mind me referencing the website link below. Thought it was best since it includes Dan's posts of the trip.

Cliffsyak,

Good story by AlohaDan. Sounds like an incredible experience and great he made it out ok.

Please put up a Google Earth image showing where this trip took place--start & destination. Thanks.

Keith

cool footage. I couldn't play anything past about 4:45 on the part III.

But hey that photo of the underside of the TI sitting on a truck rack side rail sure gave me some long term storage and improvised truck roof rack ideas.

Looks simpler, cheaper, and might give better support than the trailer cradles.

Chekika,

Here's the coordinates and google earth image of our route.
start: 19.457665,-154.842194 destination: 19.720878,-155.071378

Gringo,

Use of the my truck rack rails to transport our TI worked really well. So will need to expand on this option more. Also, it looks like the distance between the left and right scupper holes are the same as an AI - probably to fit their scupper carts. So, whatever is fabricated from this could also work on an AI and other Hobie kayaks.

cheers!
