I've searched around here and couldn't find any mention of whether the Wave has a metal backing plate built into the sterns for the gudgeon screws. Need some help from rotomold boat experts.

This came up in the Technical Help forum at TheBeachcats.com with a member who has two broken gudgeon screws it looks like need to be drilled out, enlarging the hole.

If there is no metal plate, could the holes be enlarged, filled in with epoxy, then re-drilled to the correct size?

Thread with pictures of damage.

Thanks,

Yes, there are molded-in inserts.

May be aluminum or stainless on this year vintage (1998). Newer boats use bronze.

Will require careful drilling to limit heat and a screw extractor.
