Just curious what others out there are paying for a new TI? Do most dealers pretty much charge retail? Any body get them to throw in some accessories?

Just want to see if my closest dealer is on par with what others have seen/paid. They were asking $4,9XX for the TI.

Here in the UK you would pay £4895.00. Today this converts to $7836.86 US.

That's too high, maybe they are higher in the UK?? They knocked off $50 for the instock one I got last month. I paid under $7k for it, the trailer, and the trampolines together.

The local kayak shop offers a 10 or 15% discount as part of their spring and fall demonstration day if you come out to the lake.

I was offered a 10% discount at a sailing shop on an AI at the end of the season last year.

It couldn't hurt to ask for a discount. At a minimum, I would expect a discount on some accessories with purchase. It probably depends on the dealer and the amount of local competition.

I paid list of $4,999 for my Dune TI in stock two months ago. I wanted to get it fast and didn't want to take a chance they would be on backorder. I did get 10% off the accessories (tramps, cover and a few dry boxes, etc.).

Not sure if there is really a risk of having to wait for one, I'm just so happy to have it, I sail every chance I get. I've been in Hawaii the past week and I'm still looking forward to getting back to the rainy Northwest to sail my TI!

Closer to the source is always less expensive. Offshore (from the US) sales have increased costs due to freight, duty, taxes, trucking to warehouses, warehousing, distribution, international marketing, freight to dealers, exchange rates... it all adds up.

for US $8559 i reckon i could have picked up my TI from California taken a hard right at Chile and made NZ with change in my pocket... Easter Island would have been great!

kayak 8400
tramps 580
wheels 250
leash 50
roof rack 500

around NZ $9780 = US $8559

Summer is approaching along with some epic adventures! i love this sail yak.. if only i hadn't ripped the roof rack of the top of my wagon! :)

My costs, with the 10% accessory discounts:

Dune TI - $4999
Tramps - $315
Leashes - $17 each = $34
Cover - $220 (they paid shipping)
Heavy Duty Cart - $130 (I think it was $145 list)

Built my own trailer for about $400.

Bought at Next Adventure in Oregon, no sales tax, great service! Gotta love it!

With the dollar weakening, the overseas costs should come down. That should also help Hobie (and other US manufacturers) increase international sales.
