All - I am looking for to buy used H17 sport. I plan to use it solo or with wife and two daughters (6 and 8 years old). When riding with whole family it will be just Sunday cruising. I am concerning about the boat capacity?
Any advice would be appreciated.

The 17 was originally designed to be a single-handed boat. It really doesn't like more than 250# on board.

Adding the jib (17 Sport) didn't increase the carrying capacity - just gave it more power to lug the extra weight around.

Two adults and two kids on board and the boat will ride significantly lower in the water - and will be very sluggish. You'll also need to be careful not to exceed the weight limit on the wings (350#).

A Hobie 18 or Getaway would be a much more suitable platform for what you're planning to use it for.

Yeah, not the boat for that. Its a big windsurfer great for one person. Wave, or the bigger plastic boat (getaway?)- my neighbors have them and they pile people on! And have a blast. I may need to add one of those to the quiver.

I agree with the others. The H17Sport is a great solo boat, ok for two, but not for more. The H16, H18 or getaway would be better choices. All 3 can be soloed with the addition of a enhansed righting system (bag, power pole, shroud extenders, etc).
