Until now, I have always used spinning rods. I just recently got a lightweight baitcasting setup. I have a Hobie baitcast rod holder, but it will not accommodate the rod with a leash attached anywhere on the cork handle. I can attach the rod leash on the butt end of the rod itself, but the velcro wrap is designed for something much larger diameter so this seems like an iffy workaround.
For those of you with baitcasting rods, where do you attach the rod leash so that it does not interfere with the rod holder? What kind of rod holder are you using for your baitcast setup(s).

I went to Bass Pro Shop and bought some of the small rubber hook keepers..... I placed them on the rod and attached a lanyard to the hook keeper

Just used the regular Hobie rod leashes and put them on the rod blank in front of where the cork/rubber handle ends going up the rod and cinched it down tight (you'll need to remove the baitcast reel off first). That way if it slides any it will be between the cork handle and the first eyelet of your rod so no chance of it slipping off and it is out of your hand's way when casting or when cupping the reel in your hand.
