I am hoping to add a downrigger to my PA. Advice from other forums suggests that the Scotty Laketroller may be the best way to go, and that this should be mounted as far aft as possible to minimize sideways drag. This mounts to standard Scotty bases. So I would like to use a Scotty gimbal mount inside the PA rear rod holder (
http://www.scotty.com/fishing-gear-equi ... -mount.htm ), but find that this fits only very loosely in the tube. Worse, the bottom of the PA rod holder lacks the horizontal ridge that most yaks have in the base of in-hull rod holders, and lacking that, there is nothing to keep the gimbal mount from rotating freely in the tube. I doubt that I am the first to invent this wheel - anybody figure out how to install a gimbal mount in a rear rod holder, or cutting to the chase, how to mount a downrigger there?
