I've ordered a few parts from the closest dealer I could find, but it seems to take months to get my order. The dealer can not even tell me how long it will take to get my order.

I am located in BC Canada and the dealer is in Calgary Alberta.

Is there a reliable on-line store that ships to Canada in a reasonable time?

Much appreciate help.

I have the same problems with the dealers in Halifax, NS and Quebec, QC. I now order from Fogh Marine in Toronto and they are awesome.

They have a lot of parts available online on their website. Sometimes hard to find them by name, but if you look up the part number in the catalog, just search by part number and you'll find it if they have it online. If they don't, call or email them and they will help you.

I use Murrays.com http://www.murrays.com/ both Stan and Tom are very professional, helpfull and knowledgeable. Most standard parts are stocked and sent out the same day. Murrays is located in S.Cal.

Understand that Murrays is not a Hobie dealer. They would have to get parts from an authorized dealer if it wasn't a generic part.

Second the endorsement for Fogh Marine.... great group of folks, like all Hobie dealers.

I find that Murry's is a little excessive with the shipping charges. I prefer BackyardBoats.com They are much more reasonable.

True words and that is what Murrays does and STOCKS, ready for immediate shipment. So I guess you are indirectly supporting Hobie dealers when you buy OME parts from Murrays.

Murrays sells OEM Hobie parts, you said that everytime they want to stock a Hobie part, they call up a dealer to order the parts, so how would the dealer and Hobie not benifit from this? Maybe you could elaborate.

1st - Likely they would be ordering the part when you need it, not to stock it. That is a possible delay to the end buyer.

2nd - The margin dollars earned by the dealer would likely be reduced, because they would feel obligated to discount for re-sale. That reduces the dealers profitability.

3rd - The dealer loses a contact and opportunity to sell more product. That reduces the dealers viability and in turn... our's.

We are always going to encourage that consumers buy from an authorized dealer. The dealer has the latest products and information from us. They are our partners. If they are not in business, we lose the ability for consumers to buy our products in that area.

#2 and #3 don't make any sense to me. You're saying your partners (the dealers) sell parts to Murrays for minimal or no profit AND in doing so, lose potential future customers. Then why would Hobie permit their dealers to ever do this? Why would any dealer ever even want to do this?

If having Murray's sell Hobie parts directly hurts the dealers selling the parts and indirectly hurts Hobie Cat, then why not just stop selling parts to Murrays?

mmiller - apparently you do not order from Murrays (duh), because if you did you would know your first point 'quoted above' could not be further from the truth. I've shopped at Murrays for over 20 years, ordering many Hobie OME items (for myself and others) each year. In all that time I can say they have had to back order a Hobie Hobie part about half a dozen times. From the Murrays site, "We stock almost all of what we sell, housing it in our 8,000 square foot warehouse."

Yes, I would hope a repeat large volume customer would get a break.

True enough, people will gravitate to those who can provide the best service. That is just the way it is.

Don't get me wrong, I like Murrays and the guys there, they have always offered great service. I use to use them as a supplier when I worked for the San Diego Hobie Dealer. They just are not an authorized dealer and since they do virtually ALL of their business via the web, they take business from our dealers all over the country. That is not healthy for our dealers or our ongoing efforts to sell new boat product.

So, I will not recommend them.

Fyi... they constantly refer technical questions from their customers to me for answers, so I suppose I am part of their great service.

Maybe Murray should be recruited as a Hobie dealer.
