Division 9 is way too quiet. Certainly with all the water around here there must be some interest.

Anybody out there????

The variability of the winds is the problem in central NC.

This is true. But we are also a couple hours from the Coast. Great sailing all over the coast and in the rivers/sounds.

There is the fairly active Carolina Sailing Club on Jordan/Carr lakes but they seem to be primarily interested monos and Isotopes.

Come on down to Wilmington. I sail several times a month.

Hey Mantaray! Where do you sail? My parents live in Wilmington and I'm down that way all the time.

My boats stay in the Myrtle Beach area unless racing. Sail on Jordan every once in a while.

So what's the deal with Division 9? Why is it inactive? Seems like a lot of the folks I'm seeing in the H16 Forum are in NC & SC. Is anyone else interested in seeing this happen? If so, speak up. Where are you and what events might interest you?

I sail around the back side of Masonboro Island, and out in the open water if conditions are good. Sailed up to Figure 8 a couple weeks ago, my GPS logged almost 40 miles that day.

Let's get together sometime!

Cool, I usually sail around F8 Island area. That's big day to get there from Masonboro! I'm probably done beach sailing this year, but I'll be back at it in the spring.

Nice wind forecasts for this weekend. But highs only in the 60s. Water temp at Jordan is still about 80 though. I may venture out Saturday at Jordan but not absolutely sure.

Good question. Tough to answer.

This past weekend The Carolina Sailing Club had something at Henderson Point called "NC Messabout". Didn't go but I like the idea. Instead of regatta racing, it was mostly casual sailing, come and go as you please at a location.

There seems to be a small number of new Hobie sailors and a lot of vet Hobie and cat sailors. The vets sail racing events only, if they sail at all. Google EMSA sailing.

With the variable winds, it's hard to even attempt to plan events. You'll see a fair number of wind surfers at Jordan this weekend because all they need is a good wind forecast and they're on the water in force.

I'd love to join you this weekend but kid's sports schedule has me tied up. I like the idea of a Hobie day on the lake. Maybe just see how many Hobies we can get in one place for a day. It looks like one of the board members tried to get a day together on Jordan this summer. Did that work out? Maybe something to try again.

Last three weeks have been extended season with amazing winds. Average 10 with gusts to 20 this day.

Nice Pics JJ. Are those at Jordan?

I've been doing the bottoms of my boat the last few weekends and missing out. :(

Last Saturday must have been great. It was blowing a steady 10 knots in my drive way as I was sanding.

Yep, Jordan. Two hours of rudder hum! Ain't it fun to hear that rudder hum. Good success with the glass and gelcoat!
