I just purchased a 1981 Hobie 14. There is lots of slop in the rudders so I purchased the rudder shime kit and 4 Rudder Tite Bushing. I installed the shimes with no problem, but no instructions for the Rudder Tite Bushings were included. The casting will have to be drilled out. Don't even know which part of the casting they should be installed in.

Currently the bottom of the upper casting rubs on the fiberglass deck and has rubbed off the gelcoat. Bottom of middle casting rubs on top of lower gudenon. If the bushings don't go in these places, I was thinking about adding some nylon washers to reduce the wear.

Thanks,
Bob

The bushings go in the lower rudder casting- in the holes for the rudder pin. You will have to drill the holes larger (7/16"?) to get the bushings to fit.
