Hi,

I just bought a 2006 Mirage Outback and got the sail kit. Does anyone know when Hobie is coming out with their own outrigger kit?

Thanks.

Roberto

Yes...we will be coming out with a ama kit soon. This is our first public mention of this, so don't expect dealers to know any details yet. I expect that we may be able to get them out by May or June if all goes well. We will be calling it the "Sidekick" ama kit. Contoured inflatable floats and a height-adjustable crossbar system. I expect it should be selling at about $120.00 for the package.

That is great. Guess I'll hold off juryrigging my own, then. Thank you for the information.

Matt

If we buy the current sail kit will the new stuff fit in? Or will there be a new sail kit coming to accompany the outriggers?

Also I have gone through the parts list umpteen times. I am unable to determine if the bigger rudder and dagger board are part of the current sail, kit.

If not what are the correct accessory numbers?

I have several kayaks. Can I easily switch the ama kit between them, or must I buy one for each?

SideKick Update

Still waiting for hardware. Looking like July.

Available in lite gray and dark green.

Four screws hold the system to the boat, so maybe that is the hardest part about transfering. If we get extra parts we can offer the middle bar and fasteners seperatly for this issue. Then the transfer is like un-clicking a paddle shaft.

I'm looking forward to the availability. I was going to try and jury-rig something this year, but this will help me spend more time on the water and less in the shop!

I'll monitor this thread for news, or is there a better way to be notified of the availability of the Sidekick and extra hardware?

Thanks
Xavier

The SideKick ama kits should be able to fit all Hobie models and most other kayaks.

The best way to be notified is to place an order for them with your dealer and they will call you when they arrive, or ship them to your door! I am sure this site will know before dealers do that they have shipped so maybe this would be a better way...
